Don’t only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets” |
Hello students! Welcome to my website where you'll be able to access videos/resources to prep you to becoming a music student at your school. Please find your instrument in the selection below and watch each video for your instrument. Why? Having that basic knowledge about your instrument is required in order for you to play your instrument with comfort and also shows me, your instructor, that I can trust you to sign out an instrument after school. Happy practicing!

An Open Case = Tripping Hazard by Mr. Isip
When you grab your case put on the floor But take it out safely, don’t hit it on the door Look at the latches, there’s one two or three I’ma make sure those latches facing me. Now lift the latch, open the case Grab: your mouthpiece but don’t shove it in your face. Take: your case, and lock that case up Push those latches down and lift yourself up. You said what what what? I said lock that case up A case that’s open could bring bad luck How? you say. Well I ain’t gonna fall today. An open case; a tripping hazard – you better stay away. Now take your mouthpiece and use some Sterisol Count to 30 seconds and show some self-control Your mouthpiece is ready, but you better dry it first Now head back to your case, we’re gonna do it in reverse. Now lift the latch, open the case Assemble your instrument but don’t shove it in your face. Then take your case and lock that case up Push those latches down and lift yourself up. You said what what what? I said lock that case up Cause an open case; a tripping hazard is just bad luck You said what what what? I said what what what? An open case; a tripping hazard is just bad luck! Finding the Beat of a Song:
Listen to these songs then A) try clapping out a steady beat to it using your body percussion (i.e. clapping, stomping, tapping, etc.) B) clapping along using a combination of eighth notes (ti) and quarter notes (taa), so for example: ti-ti - taa, from "We Will Rock You" 1. youtu.be/t3HJgCcSUqQ 2. youtu.be/D0ykb30g4s4 3. youtu.be/Gwb3XMfrYDk Want to buy your own mouthpiece?Just visit any music store such as Long & McQuade or Cosmo Music (see links below) and ask them for a student mouthpiece for your instrument. The prices range from $20 and up.
If you also want to buy a new instrument or rent (renting is cheaper and more affordable!) ask the sales person about those options... usually rentals costs around $30 or more per month. Buying a new instrument can be pricey, so try buying only a student model not a fancy expensive one just yet. You can also try Amazon.ca.
